Lent 2021

'that we may triumph over evil and grow in grace as we prepare to celebrate the Easter mystery with mind and heart renewed'

Lent is a wonderful opportunity for growth and renewal, and we warmly invite you to join us in person or online as we prepare for Holy Week and Easter.

Praying the Rosary

Mondays: 10.30am at St Julian's

Saturdays in Lent: 11.30am at St John's

In the Rosary we contemplate the mysteries of our salvation.  The simple prayer of the Rosary is offered each Monday through the year at St Julian's, and during Lent we'll also pray the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary each Saturday at 11.30am at St John's, before the 12 noon Mass.

Cocoa and Compline

Wednesdays in Lent: 9pm on Zoom

Join with others in the quiet Night Prayer of the Church from your own home.  After 15 minutes of conversation, we'll pray Compline together at 9.15pm.

Holy Hour and Benediction

Thursdays in Lent: from 11am at St John's

A meditation or devotional reading, followed by an hour's silent prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.  Feel free to come and go during this time.  Benediction is given at 11.50am and Mass follows at 12 noon.

Stations of the Cross

Fridays in Lent: 12 noon at St John's

A weekly journey with our Lord along the Way of Sorrows, seeking to enter into the mystery of his sufferings and to pray for all who suffer with him today.

There'll also be Stations of the Cross and Benediction at 6pm on Palm Sunday.

The Way of Julian of Norwich

Fridays in Lent: 3.30pm on Zoom

A six-part online series of discussions based on the chapters of Sheila Upjohn's new book The Way of Julian of Norwich, offered jointly by the Friends of Julian of Norwich and Norwich Cathedral.  The series, which takes place on Zoom each Friday in Lent from 3.30 to 4.30pm, will be led by the Dean and Canons of Norwich Cathedral and Fr Richard Stanton, and will also include weekly contributions from the author herself as well as the opportunity for discussion and reflection among participants.  Click here to register for the series.

The Bishop's Lent Appeal

Lent offerings in the Diocese of Norwich will be given this year to the Archbishop of Canterbury's 'Together in Unity' appeal to support churches and communities around the world during the pandemic.

This initiative will work to provide income support, facilities for basic hygiene, equipment to slow the spread of the virus and food security to our sisters and brothers in some of the poorest communities around the world as they tackle Covid-19 with few resources of their own.

Envelopes for your offerings are available in church: please return them to us by Low Sunday (11 April) and we'll send off all our gifts together.  Or you can give online here.
